English: The aim of the present paper is to analyze the cases recorded in the world-view when a child’s behaviour can be grasped as the point of departure of the world categorization. The examples are drawn from the expository parts of the Lithuanian language corpus compil ed at Vytautas Magnus University Computational Linguistics Centre. The method of conceptual anal ysis is employed in the present study. The things or phenomena make the categories represent them differently : some better, others – worse. The member of the category which is the closest to the prototype is a more prototypical exemplar. After some time the category is supplemented by new representatives. Thus the prototype may change. Comparison is one of the verbalization examples of the prototype theory. Informative and interesting are those examples which specify the particularity of abstract phenomena. A 125 prototypical situation is recorded in a comparison, by evaluating particularity and cultural norms. Summing up the analyzed examples the conclusion is drawn that whil e categorizing the world it is convenient to rely on a child’s behaviour as a point of departure, i.e. pecul iar prototype, as there is no adult who was not a child. The attitude recorded in the world-view can be obvious to a child but sometimes goes unnoticed by an adult. |
