English: Various texts contain derivatives which have not been included in the Dictionar y of the Lithuanian Language. This article deals with the neologisms of Ivanauskaitė’s novel "Miegančių drugelių tvirtovė" ("The Castle of Sleeping Butterflies") (33 of them wer e discussed in this article). Most of them can be treated as potential derivatives. According to the data of the Corpus of the Lithuan ian Language compiled by Vytautas Magnus University, 11 neologisms are used in the texts of different stylistic register; some of them (esatis, nesatis, savigrauža) are used often enough. They can become part of active lexis and be included in the dictionar ies. The research demonstrated that neologisms are very often figures of speech. They carry a lot of information: some derivatives have a positive (paukšteliukas) but much more often a negative (baisbobė, šlykštalas, hienagalvis, monstriškas, -a) semantic component. |
