‘Konteksty Kultury’ is an academic half-yearly of the Teachers’ Training College (TTC) in Bielsko-Biała. Nine issues have been published since 2005, the tenth one is being printed. The idea of the magazine dates back to 1999, when the Faculty of Polish Philology of TTC was established, but it was realized several years later. Initially the magazine published papers by academics representing different fields, in particular ones connected with the courses offered by TTC. The magazine, as intended by the editors, was ‘common space’ where university lecturers, school teachers and students could meet to present a variety of perspectives and different methodological orientations with a common denominator.
The magazine evolved over the years and in 2011 a more uniform formula was chosen. The articles are still varied in terms of the subject-matter and methodology, but the subject thereof is mainly the literary text and its contexts. We invited researchers from academic centers, with whom we co-organized literary studies conferences at TTC. From the very beginning ‘Konteksty Kultury’ has included academic reviews.
